Virat Kohli, a proficient right-handed batsman, was born in Delhi on November 5th, 1988 to Prem and Saroj Kohli. Unfortunately, his father, who was a lawyer, passed away on December 19th, 2006 due to a brain stroke. Virat has an elder brother named Vikash and an elder sister named Bhavna. He completed his education from St. Sofia School situated in Paschim Vihar, Delhi.

Virat made his T20 cricket debut against Himachal Pradesh in Delhi on April 3, 2007. In the subsequent year, he captained the Indian under 19 cricket team to triumph in the World Cup. From 2008 onwards, he has been an integral part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad.48
He made his debut in One Day International against Sri Lanka in the Ideal Cup in 2008, during a time when both the renowned batsmen Virat Tendulkar and Virendar Sewag were sidelined due to injuries. However, he seized the opportunity to participate in the 2009 ICC Champions Trophy due to Yuvraj Singh’s unfortunate injury. It was during the 4th ODI in December 2009 that Virat achieved his maiden ODI Century. Subsequently, as Yuvraj regained fitness, Virat’s appearances on the field became sporadic.

Virat Kohli emerged as the top run scorer for India in the triangular ODI series, despite the team not making it to the finals. Kohli’s exceptional performance led him to score 133 runs and earn the title of Man of the Match. During the 2012 Asia Cup in March, he was appointed as the vice captain for the ODI team and showcased his brilliance by scoring 183 runs against Pakistan, setting a new record for the highest individual score by an Indian in ODIs. This remarkable achievement also marked his highest individual score in the Asia Cup. On September 15, 2012, Kohli was honored as the ODI cricketer of the year at the ICC annual award function held in Columbia, Sri Lanka.
In 2013, Virat Kohli assumed the role of captain for the Royal Challengers Bangalore team in the IPL. The team boasted exceptional players such as Chris Gayle and Tillakaratne Dilshan to support him. However, during a match against the Kolkata Knight Riders, a controversy arose between Kohli and the opposing team’s captain, Gambhir. The two Delhi natives, who typically play together on the same team, exchanged heated words on the field. After Kohli was dismissed, he made a comment towards Gambhir that further fueled the argument. Fortunately, a fellow teammate from Delhi was able to intervene and calm the situation down.
